It seems obvious that human rights and dignity are base line starting points and any one, thing, or religion that endangers them must be opposed. My concern is how to get the outcome we all want without falling victim to a neocolonial strategy or a futile charge into personal belief systems by the "enlightened'.

If women or workers "voluntarily" put themselves under Sharia law or the law of capitalism how do we address this? What forces for change do we need to drive forward first to find the shortest route to human dignity? Is it industrial development? Is it social equity? Is it economic equity? Is it to advocate secular humanism? Where are our better angels to which we need to appeal?

How refreashing to read Maryam's views! I am a female Asian born in a Muslim family and find it so hard to move away from this draconian religion because of family pressure. I wish there were more people who would speak out against Islam and the sharia laws that are making this world a difficult place to live in.

No of course Evren, in your enlightened vision all communists are the same but all Muslims are different. I mean oppression of Muslims and freedom of conscience is not that important, we will wait until Maryam has highlighted and gained recognition for all those millions, as you claimed, died through communism, and only then, once that recognition has been realised, should move onto her next project which is highlighting the conditions under which Sharia bound Muslims live.

Of course before she does that, I am sure you will come up with some other project where her talents are better served. I wonder, and with all sincerity, do you think before putting pen to paper or do you just ramble because it seems more effective to your sense of perspective?

Maryam maybe you should campaign for the recognition of the millions and millions and millions around the world that have been killed, starved and oppressed by communism before you make quotes from Marxist scum and preach to Muslims.
